Before the pre-production, I did three flash tutorials to learn how to use Adobe Flash. You can see them here. My pre-production started with brainstorming an idea over the weekend and then researching animations and storyboards in class. I looked up ten second animations to get an idea of what to do. I already had an idea in mind, but wasn't sure. Then I researched storyboards and did mine over the weekend. I made a storyboard with ten frames, each frame represents a second. Under each frame, I would give a short description about what was going on in each. Production was a little harder, but expected. I had tried to make this before and I failed miserably. But never give up! I made the animation in Photoshop. I used my storyboard to make the layers. When I was done, I converted them to frames and made my timeline. Animation complete. Production wasn't the longest stage as predicted. After the animation was made, I had to revise it. I had a problem with the length and the frames. When I first converted the layers to frames, they only had one half of the heart appearing. So, I had to find and turn on the correct layer for that frame. I ended up making a copy of the PSD and trying something different. Instead of all layers inside of the groups, which weren't helpful, I merged the layers in the groups. That made it a lot easier. 10 Second heart animation
